Actually this post is about "ditching" before you free motion which I am a firm beliver in, do you ditch and if you do what thread do you use?
When I first started the suggestion was to use clear thread from Superior, it comes in light and dark. I don't know about you but it just reminded me of that plastic thread on cheap clothing, if the end comes loose it just keeps poking you. I switched to matching the fabric, on multicolored fabrics no matter how careful it would show somewhere.
Thats when I discovered water-soluble thread, several brands are available. I am currently using Superiors purchased on Amazon with free prime member shipping. Yes, happy girl right here for having access to Amazon Prime via my son.
Have you ever used water sololuable thread?

I have never used water soluble thread, that sounds like a great product though. Your woodgrain quilting looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteUsing water soluble thread for SITD is a great idea! I had not thought about it. I think SITD makes quilting much smoother but I'm not always a fan of having those stitches in the blocks when doing an all over design... This is the perfect solution! I can't wait to hear how it washes out! BTW, this is a great quilt and your wood grain quilting looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. Does the thread work (wash out) well? Does it have an odd texture? Very nice wood grain stitching!
ReplyDeleteI have seen this thread but haven't tried it. I will have to try it now that I know someone who has actually used it and likes it. Your quilting looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I am with Beth--would never have tried it unless someone else tried it first! I suppose SOMEONE has to be first, lol!
